WHY ART THERAPY?

No art knowledge or skill is required! Art means many things to different people and equally in therapy it is what you make of it. It can be as simple as touching and shaping play dough or sand as well as painting, drawing, and collage making etc.

I believe art making is a communication tool for self-expression and as important as verbal communication. Art Therapy may benefit you if one of these sentences is about you:

"It is too difficult to describe my inner world."

"In my mind I can see a picture of my world but I cannot describe."

"I feel pain but I find it hard to put this into words."

"Art helps me relax when discussing difficult feelings."

"Talking without doing something else makes me nervous!
I wonder if having a conversation whilst drawing, doodling would help me to feel safer and focus on therapy."
